Search Submission

Smart search submission guideliness

It's quite simple. Free search submission helps your website promotion efforts on the web. It is all about submitting your website to the major traffic-generating sites - the search engines.

Search engine submission is as easy as filling out a form and is one of the first steps towards getting your site search-engine-optimized.

  1. It's the address of a resource on the Internet.
  2. It's what you type in the "address field" of your Internet browser, starting with 'http://www'.
  3. The URL was originally invented because there was a need for making the actual address more memorable.

Think for a moment about remembering the number '196.122.34.7' instead, as the address for your favorite portal or news update site. Confusing, eh? Websites' actual addresses, called 'IP Addresses,' are like the number in the above example.

Each page of your site has its own URL.The initial page of your site is named in this way:

For example: Google's initial page is:

'Google' is the domain name. '.com' is an extension for commercial websites. 'index.html' is always the name of each site's initial web page, or HTML file as we call it: the site's home page.

'index.html' is one file name that we can't choose, but what about names for other web pages?

This is one factor that search engines look for while deciding where they will place your web page on a results page. The more accurate and descriptive your file name is, the better it will match the term or keyword that your visitors searched for in the search field. So, first make sure you use these keywords for your file names - the HTML files that comprise each one of your web pages.

We understand what 'free' is; we already understand what this 'URL' word is. What about search submission?

Well, submission is the first thing you should do when your site is ready for the outside world and means that you make sure that the search engine or website knows your site exists. How do you do that? Simply send your pages' URLs, one at a time, to these search engines for inclusion. Do this using search engines' online submission forms.

What are the reasons for making free search submissions?

Firstly, it's the first step towards achieving your goal of gaining higher positioning on a search engine's listings or 'free website promotion' (also called organic website promotion), which, after all, depends on your site being on the list. Secondly, it's absolutely free.

Why is it free?

Remember that search engines' goal is to provide genuine authentic information that matches the searchers' goals. Search engines would like to know whether a well-fitting page exists.

Free URL submission to the most relevant search engines is best done through manual submission. You can check our guidelines for manual submission at
